The ETF comparison stack.
Start with portfolio role, then compare index methodology, holdings, cost, liquidity, tracking quality, distributions, tax efficiency, and overlap. Cost matters, but it is only one layer.
RoleCore, satellite, income, factor, hedge, or cash-like.

OverlapMore ETFs can still mean duplicate exposure.
Questions to answer before buying.
- What portfolio job should this ETF perform?
- What index does it track, and how is that index built?
- What are the top holdings, sector weights, country weights, and concentration risks?
- What is the expense ratio, bid-ask spread, trading volume, and tracking difference?
- How does it distribute income, and what tax issues may appear?
- What existing holdings does it overlap?
Cheap does not always mean best.
Investors often compare ETFs only by expense ratio. That misses spreads, tax behavior, tracking, liquidity, and whether the ETF duplicates an existing fund. A low-cost fund can still be a poor fit if it solves the wrong problem.
