A worked example
A made-up statistical release published in May describes April. A note dated only May can leave readers unsure which month the observation covers. A clearer opening names both dates and identifies whether the figure is preliminary or revised when the source provides that status.

Publication time and measurement time belong in separate fields.
Try it on paper
Draft a two-sentence note using explicitly fictional values.
Keep the assumptions beside your answer. Check the result before applying the idea to a different situation.
