Change one variable in a transaction experiment
Make the cause of an observed difference easier to identify.
Source foundation
Regtest provides an environment for controlled Bitcoin development experiments. Bitcoin developer examples: testing.
A worked example
A learner creates a baseline paper transaction, then changes only the recipient amount. A second trial changes only the assumed fee. Changing both at once would make a mistaken change calculation harder to diagnose. The notebook preserves the inputs and expected result for each trial.
Original hypothetical example. Amounts, people, events, and scenarios above are invented for learning; they are not historical observations or forecasts.
What to take from it
A small experiment is more informative when its assumptions are explicit.
Try it on paper
Design three trials and state which value changes in each.
Keep the assumptions beside your answer. Check the result before applying the idea to a different situation.
