Build a wallet change log

Make changes understandable to your future self.

Source foundation

Wallet security includes backups, access protection, and recovery planning. Bitcoin: securing your wallet.

A worked example

A fictional owner changes devices in January, updates recovery instructions in March, and tests a small transfer in April. A log containing only dates is hard to interpret. Adding the purpose, non-secret result, and unresolved issue makes the sequence reviewable without exposing signing material.

Original hypothetical example. Amounts, people, events, and scenarios above are invented for learning; they are not historical observations or forecasts.

What to take from it

Record what was verified rather than declaring the whole setup safe.

Try it on paper

Create a blank log with date, change, verification, and follow-up columns.

Keep the assumptions beside your answer. Check the result before applying the idea to a different situation.
